Mr Griffen is stepping down from his newsletter duties, which he began completing for the club in July 2005.
“I came to the Probus Club after having experience with the Rotary Club and I knew the club needed a connection with the people,” Mr Griffen said.
“That’s why I started it in the first place and I am glad everyone has enjoyed it.”
He was honoured at the meeting and received wine glasses and a bottle of red wine.
Organiser of speakers for the Probus Club Doroth Cordingley said Mr Griffen’s monthly newsletter, which were released to the members a week prior to their scheduled meetings, helped the club to grow.
“He has done a wonderful job,” Ms Cordingley said.
“We appreciate what he has done for the club and all of the effort he has put in.
“He never missed anyone’s birthday or anniversaries.”
Mr Griffen first joined the Probus Club in 2003 and spent a year as president.
