Councillors voted between two nominees, Cr Bruce Morris and Cr Ashley Williams with Cr Williams receiving the majority vote.
This will be Cr William’s second term in the role of deputy mayor following his election in 2016.
Cr Williams will serve as deputy mayor up until the next vote in approximately 12 month’s time.
During his last term as deputy mayor, Cr Williams had the opportunity to take on the mayor’s role. He chaired his first council meeting and Councillor workshop back in July.
Cr Williams is a long-term resident of Kempsey Shire, a father of four, president of the Macleay Valley Rangers Football Club and a business owner.
Mayor Liz Campbell said she is excited to be working with Cr Williams again.
