A family-friendly get-together will be held this weekend to show support and acceptance for the LGBTI community. All members of the community are encouraged to gather at the Kempsey Riverside Park on Sunday 15 October from 10:00am -2:00pm for a free BBQ and to enjoy the stalls which will showcase local LGBTI talent.

Activities, music and a highlight performance from the Dreamtime Divas will be on show for everyone in the community to enjoy.

The event aims to celebrate diversity in the local community and event organisers have said it is an opportunity for local businesses to show their support for diversity in the Macleay Valley. On the occasion of wet weather, the event will be held at Clyde Street Mall which provides shelter from the rain.

Kempsey Shire resident and ‘It’s OK on the Macleay’ initiator, Hayley Hoskins said she hopes locals will show support for the LGBTQ community and get behind the event on the weekend.
