Kempsey’s annual race meeting brings stylish fashionistas and trend setters from all over the mid North Coast competing to take out first place in the fun fashion event.
There are several categories to enter today for both men, women and for the first time children.
Fillies of the Field is the category for the ladies who are aged 18-29 years old. Colt on the Course for the men who are aged under 30 years.
Best Dressed Lady of Fashion is for ladies 30-50 and Best Dressed Male category is for the men over 30. There is also a Best Dressed Mature Lady category for those who are over 50.
For the little stylers we have the Best Dressed Children’s category with a $20 voucher and a box of chocolates as the prize.
This year as a new concept, judges will mingle among guests at the race meeting and check out the fashion finesse being brought to the Kempsey competition.
If you are one of the lucky chosen ones, you will be given a number to compete for the prize pool.
Judging will take place from 2.45pm.
The Fashions on the Field committee this year consists of Chris Shaw, Louise McKeon, Shontel Everson, Di Wade and Angela Bass.
The special fashion judges will be Chris King, a makeup artist who has worked with Vogue magazine and Harpers Bazaar among others and a self described local ambassador for tourism and culture in Kempsey.
Muni Osborne and Michael O’Mullane make up the rest of the judging panel with prizes donated from a range of local businesses.
The prize pool includes a nights accommodation at the Sea Breeze Hotel at South West Rocks.
Hello World is offering up a nights accommodation in Sydney and return flights from Port Macquarie to Sydney for two.
A Clarins gift pack, Estee’ Lauder skincare and perfume pack and $1000 gift voucher for Harley and Rose are just some of the great prizes on offer to winners.
Local businesses Amcal Pharmacy, Raymond’s Pharmacy, Harley and Rose Fashion and Lifestyle store, O’Donnell and Hanlon and Hello World are all supporting the fashion event and filling the prize pool.
Fashion has always been a huge part of every race event on the calendar and the Kempsey Cup will surely showcase a vibrant array of style and design as many ladies have been eagerly putting together their stunning outfits ahead of today’s event.
