It's marvellous what a difference Milo makes
From November 10 to January 7 2018 at the Slim Dusty Centre, locals will be able to walk the halls of Milo history and explore the making of an iconic brand.
Once advertised as a sleep tonic, Milo was invented by Thomas Mayne in the early 1930’s and began production at a plant in Smithtown near Kempsey. The crunchy, choc-malt powder drink was first launched to the public at the 1934 Royal Easter Show.
The exhibition unravels an 80-year history of Milo, revealing the changing face of the factory at Smithtown situated on the Macleay River, the production and agricultural history and the marketing genius of how Milo is recognised by millions of people worldwide as an iconic product and brand.
The exhibition, titled ‘The story of Milo - a Legendary Favourite’, will include sporting and other memorabilia, photographs, technical equipment, packaging, posters, historical video footage and examples of Nestlé’s involvement and support of many community projects and their support of sport.
Go and go and go with Milo!
‘The Story of Milo – a Legendary Favourite’ opens at 4.00pm on Friday November 10, with an official launch by the honourable Melinda Pavey MP set to occur in the Nulla Nulla Gallery at 2.00pm on Friday November 17. The exhibition will run until Sunday January 7, 2018.
