Graduates of the TAFE Aboriginal Cultural Arts course in Wauchope celebrated Indigenous history and culture through their artworks exhibited at the Dunghutti-Ngaku Aboriginal Art Gallery in South Kempsey.
One of the artists featuring was Isabell Moran – a community elder of the Biripi/Dhunghutti descent and founder of the Bindi Aboriginal Cultural Centre. Ms Moran uses her artwork as a means of passing on to next generations the traditions and stories handed down to her by her own grandparents.
Artists included in the exhibition were Isabell Moran, Lisa Travers, Verqelle Fisher, Angela Roberts and Natasha Chatfield. All artists have been involved in creating artworks strongly influenced by their history and culture. Many of these artists exhibited at the gallery in 2016 and their works were well received.
The month-long exhibition drew to a close over the weekend.
