The 27-year-old was leading after 9 holes but slipped away on the back nine. With the cut set at -1, Brandt-Richards birdied the last hole on day two to scrape in and was sitting tied 55th heading into the weekend. He played average on Saturday but held his position. On Sunday he rocketed 30 places up the leaderboard by shooting the round of the day.
“The round wasn’t just important for the tournament, it was also the last round of the season and it jumped me into the top 50 on the Order of Merit. Being top 50 secures my full card on the PGA Tour of Australasia for 2018 which was a goal at the start of 2017. I’m very happy with my finish to the year, especially the last three weeks,” Brandt-Richards told the Argus. He heads to Thailand to try to qualify for the Asian tour on December 31.
