The 14-year-old sealed the title by finishing second in the third and final round at the State Motorcycle Complex in Broadford, Victoria.
Zylas’ Championship triumph comes after he won the the first two rounds held earlier in the year at Morgan Park in Warwick and Wakefield Park in Goulburn.
The youngster attributes the success to his ability to perform consistently throughout the competition.
“There was a lot of quick kids,” he said.
“I could keep up and I was consistent, so that’s why I won but there was a lot of fast kids.”
The series, in which riders compete on Yamaha R15 road bikes, is designed to unearth talent and develop riders aged 12 to 16.
Zylas, who first hopped on a peewee 50 at the age of three, rode an RS80 to victory, which is an old 125 GP bike with an 80cc engine.
“I just like going fast,” he said.
“I love it, it’s my favourite thing to do.”
The kid with no fear, who has been competing in motocross since he was seven-years-old, but only started racing road bikes a year ago says he learned the importance of planning and implementing strategies from the experience of contesting the Australian Championship.
“You have to do your own thing and focus on your race,” Zylas said.
“You definitely have got to have a plan.
"Dad and I talk a lot prior to the race about what I’m going to do.”
In the future, Zylas hopes to emulate his idol two-time Moto GP world champion Australian Casey Stoner.
“I definitely want to go overseas,” he said.
“I want to do Moto GP.”
Zylas is well on the way to achieving his goal. Next season a special exemption to the rules will allow him to race in the Australian Supersport 300 series which follows the Superbike Championship around the country and is the primary feeder program for senior road race classes for riders starting as young as 16-years-old.
The Bunting’s would like to thank Barnett’s Bakery, RedPoint, Shark Webers and coach Damian Cudlin for their ongoing support.
