Recently, local members of the Co-op were sent a letter asking them to vote in a ballot whether or not the Macleay Regional Co-operative Limited should close.
The Co-op owns the building where Central Kempsey IGA is located and their lease is currently with the Co-op.
Despite this, owner of Central Kempsey IGA Rohan Simpson said the decision of the postal ballot will not affect the future of Central Kempsey IGA.
“Our future is secure no matter who owns the building. We have a registered lease and trade name,” he said.
“It is up to the members of the Co-op to decide their vote and whichever way they choose, Central Kempsey IGA will continue to trade, grow, smile and support the community.”
“Central Kempsey IGA is only 18 months old and the support and feedback from the community has been overwhelmingly positive,” Mr Simpson said.
“We are seeing new customers every week and improving the experience of our regulars as well as continuing to grow and innovate and invest.”
Members have until 12pm on Thursday December 20 to place their vote on the future of the Co-op.
