APS 6 Protective Security Officer

Your new company
A major federal government department requires an experienced and highly motivated Security professional to join the Protective Security team on a long-term contract.

Your new role
Reporting to the Assistant Director Security Operations you will be part of a small team responsible for the delivery of protective security services for the department. Duties will include:

• Provide leadership and direction to agency’s employees on best practice security procedures using a risk-based approach
• Assist in the development, implementation and delivery of security quality assurance reporting activities
• Monitor, analyse and report to senior management on security risk to the department’s people, information and assets
• Prepare security-centric policy, briefs, submissions, reports and correspondence for a wide range of audiences including the Minister, Secretary and senior management
• Contribute to the outcomes departments security through quality decision making by maintaining an understanding and appreciation of the security landscape
• Review security policy and procedures in accordance with whole of government frameworks

What you'll need to succeed

• Demonstrated experience applying security measure in accordance with the Protective Security Policy Framework
• Ideally have nationally recognised qualification in Government Security or similar, or ability to obtain the qualification
• Baseline Clearance
