APS6 Counsellor - Rockingham

Your new company
This federal government service is responsible for the delivery of mental health services for veteran and defence force communities and their families. You will be working within the Open Arms counselling program providing high quality clinical services. Your new role
In your new role you will be responsible for clinical counselling and case management as you assist individuals, couples, and families. You will facilitate the delivery of the counselling program to veterans, ADF personnel and their families. You will contribute to the development of the program and ensure you participate in ongoing learning for your own professional status. You will liaise with other government departments and welfare agencies to meet the needs of the veteran and defence force communities.

Key duties:

• Provide clinical services that would include assessing and referring individual, couple and/or family counselling
• Contribute to the development and delivery of organisations group programs
• Maintain clinical records, analyse data from clients and prepare reports to improve service delivery
• Facilitate the delivery of counselling to veterans and to ADF and their families either face to face or via telehealth
• Form key stakeholder partnerships with DVA, the ADF and other community health and welfare agencies
• Participate in community development and service promotion activities
• Participate in Open Arms program evaluations and research activities
• Provide feedback for ongoing development of clinical policies and procedures

What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will have recent experience in a face-to-face counselling environment. You must have proven experience with trauma informed practice and the ability to manage your own case load.

Key requirements:

• Full AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Mental Health OT, Mental Health RN, or a Social Worker who is mental health accredited with eligibility AASW membership
• Proven experience in counselling/case management services
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex caseloads with acute mental health issues
• Excellent communication skills including documentation
• WWC check and National Police Clearance
