The CFL Restaurant Support Centre (RSC) is located in Hamilton, Brisbane, and is the main hub for above-store staff who support a workforce of over 15,000 employees across Australia. The Support Centre houses a number of divisions including Finance & Accounting, Payroll, Supply Chain, Information Systems, Human Resources, Marketing, Property & Construction, Maintenance & Engineering, and Restaurant Operations.

We’re on the search for a Legal Counsel to join the Collins Food Family, directly supporting the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer (CLCO). As Collins’ Legal Counsel, you will support to CLCO in providing commercially focused, pragmatic legal, risk and governance support to the business, including the Executive Leadership Team. Additionally, you will assume responsibility for maintaining oversight of the company’s insurance portfolio, including managing all policy renewals and claims management. In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing general corporate legal advice to internal stakeholders
  • Negotiating, drafting and reviewing material legal contracts and transaction documents
  • Providing support to the CLCO on mergers and acquisitions, divestment and other corporate transactions
  • Undertaking legal due diligence investigations
  • Liaising with external legal service providers
  • Providing general support to the Risk and Compliance function- e.g assisting with risk reporting, reviewing new regulations relevant to the business, updating policies and procedures
  • Liaising with the Group’s insurance brokers to ensure all insurances are appropriately structured, managed and renewed on time in consultation with the Board
  • Managing, settling and reporting on insurance claims
  • Drafting papers and other materials for submission to the Executive and Board for approval

About You

With a strong background in corporate, commercial, and general property law, you will have 2-3 years post admission experience. You’re self-motived, take ownership and accountability for your work, and you’re known as a people person who thrives from building effective and long-lasting relationships with your stakeholders. As the Legal Counsel you will hold the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Laws (or related discipline)
  • Post-graduate and other relevant qualifications favourably considered (e.g in Risk)
  • Admitted as a solicitor in Australia with a current practising certificate
