Your new company
Based in tropical QLD city of Townsville which boasts 300 days of sunshine per year, Townsville City Council, the largest local government authority in Northern Australia, are seeking an IT Technology Manager (titled Team Manager Digital and Technology) to lead multiple teams that work all across the council.
Your new role
This new role reports directly into the newly appointed Chief Digital and Information Officer (CDIO) and leads the specially created (and multi-disciplinary) Digital and Technology function whose aim is manage, operate and oversee all business facing technology teams thought out the council.
As the Team Manager you will oversee 25[JN1] permanent technical members of staff plus any additional
contractors and 3 rd party vendors. The Townsville City Council staff in this department are broken down into four specific teams: ITS Business Partnering (comprised of Business Partners, Business Analysts and Project Officers), ITS Service Desk, Business Support and Project Managers, each with a team lead who will report directly into you.
As the leader of the Digital & Technology function your duties and responsibilities will vary across a multitude of areas including planning, strategy, budgets, technical management people leadership, personnel reviews/management, and resources management.
The successful applicant will have experience in one or more of technology project governance (within the PMO domain preferred), contract and vendor management, and/or in IT asset life cycle management for software and hardware.
Under new management, the IT/Technology division direction is changing with their focus shifting to customer experience which will see greater interaction between IT and the wider business and the community. This role is the key interface with the Council and will have a major impact on its success.
