The regatta was their annual event and they held the competition in teams of 10, as opposed to the usual 20 people inside a Dragon Boat.
The competition included two heats, a semi-final and a final.
The River Rats claimed victory in the Opens and Mixed Divisions before they finished in third place in the Women’s event in an extremely close race.
It was near perfect conditions and the regatta was opened with a lone bagpiper being paddled down the course to the delight of onlookers.
The theme for this year was Halloween which allowed all teams to decorate their marquees with some weird, wild and scary adornments. In some very close judging, the winner was Camden Haven.
The Club acknowledges the support from Kempsey Macleay RSL and invites anyone who would like to have a go at dragon boat paddlng to contact Deirdre 0409667372.
