This month’s outing for the Seabreeze Beach Hotel Fishing Club was held on the weekend of November 4 and 5. It was a variable affair, Friday night there was a howling nor-easterly and it was thought that no boats would be putting to sea on Saturday morning but, in the early AM, a southerly change came through. Though it was off-shore in the morning the residual nor-easterly joggle kept the anglers at home.

The prevailing southerly persisted over the weekend and a few boats put to sea although not with outstanding results:
Pearl Perch – senior – Greg Allen, 650 gm; junior – Riley Gordon, 570 gm.
Snapper – senior – Jeff Bryant, 2.165 kg.
Teraglin – senior – Wayne Gordon, 1.045 kg.
Kingfish – senior – Grant Rowe, 4.510 kg.
Angler of the Month – Outside – Greg Allen with 3 species and Junior Angler of the Month was Riley Gordon with 1 specie.
The inside (rock, beach and estuary) section of the competition was well accounted for with all the nominated species being presented to the Weigh Master.
Bob and Colleen Shakespeare took out the Bream section with Bob’s Bream weighing 660 gm and Colleen’s 385 gm. To this Colleen added a winning Dusky Flathead at 690 gms.
Bec and Lilly Box made it a mother and daughter result with the Whiting section. Bec’s weighing 235 gm and Lilly’s 310 gm. Lilly’s catch also gave her Junior Angler of the Month.
Other winners of the inside section were:
Charlie Azzopardi with a 780 gm Dusky Flathead; Bob Wright with a 300 gm Whiting and in the juniors, Riley Gordon with a 180 gm Whiting to win his section and Darcy Gordon with a Whiting weighing 155 gm to win the “Tenunda” section.
Consistent angler, Damien Ashley, turned up with a variety of fish caught from a variety of habitats. Among them a 2.430 kg Black Drummer which earned him largest other inside and enhanced his position on the “Beat the Board” by some 350 gm. Along with the Drummer,
Damien had another 7 species to earn Inside Angler of the Month and illustrating Damien’s obvious knowledge when it comes to fishing.
Although there were only 45 kg of fish weighed-in the reception at the Seabreeze Beach Hotel was most amicable and hopefully, will be repeated at our next outing which will be on the weekend of December 2 and 3.
