The girls, who are mostly under-10s, played in the under-12s competition and performed admirably against the more experienced opposition, winning two of their eight games.
Diamonds’ coach Jessica King said the girls played well in what was a tough competition.
“Some of the girls in the team had never played before,” she told the Argus.
“It was really exciting to see the girls improve each game.”
The Dunghutti Diamonds would like to thank their sponsors Dalaigur Preschool and children’s services, and Dunghutti Fitness.
The Koori Netball Tournament aimed to increase participation of Aboriginal women in sport and recreation, in a fun, competitive, environment. Co-hosted by the NSW Government and Charlestown Netball Association, this year saw 95 teams take part and 435 games played across five divisions.
