The new-look 30-page A4 guide, Drop In to the Macleay Valley Coast, features information and tips for visitors and residents interested in visiting the Kempsey Shire.
Council’s manager of Economic Sustainability, Susannah Smith, said the guide highlights the region’s many attractions including its scenic hinterland, quaint riverside villages and the coastal townships of Crescent Head, Hat Head, South West Rocks, Stuarts Point and Grassy Head.
“There is lots of information on topics ranging from shopping, dining and accommodation to walking trails, scenic drives, festivals, events and markets,” she said.
“Some of our friendly locals share their tourism tips and describe their passion for the Macleay Valley.
“The guide will be used to attract visitors to the Macleay and encourage them to extend their stay to explore some of our unique tourism attractions, including the Slim Dusty Centre, Trial Bay Gaol and Smoky Cape Lighthouse.
“There’s also our world-class surfing breaks, great fishing spots and the chance to dive with grey nurse sharks at Fish Rock Cave.”
Ms Smith thanked the local businesses who contributed to the guide.
“We reduced the price this year to advertise in the guide to make it more affordable for businesses and the business community responded with strong support which is fantastic,” she said.
A total of 30,000 copies have been distributed to local, regional and interstate Visitor Information Centres.
“It has been distributed to the Visitor Information Centre network throughout Australia so travellers from across the country can pick up a copy and plan their trip to our part of the world.”
You can pick up a copy of the guide at the VIC at South Kempsey, Council Customer Service Centre, and at local businesses and accommodation providers. macleayvalleycoast.com.au/
