Her owner/creator Ann Edwards is devastated by the loss – not just for her sake, but for the joy she brought locals and visitors alike, who would stop to have their photo taken with her, or to check out her latest outfit.
“The response to her theft has definitely been overwhelming; not just locally but all over in Sydney and out west in Bourke. So many people are missing her.”
Ann is a dressmaker and regularly revamped Miss Mani Quinn’s look or to celebrate certain times of the year.
“The blue dress (the second image in the slideshow below) is one I made for myself many years ago and Miss Mani Quinn has worn a couple of times.
“The Christmas one is last year. She wears a Parramatta Eels jersey and cap during the NRL season and I dress her for Halloween.”
Miss Mani Quinn was originally placed out to scare predators away from the ‘penthouse chicks’
“The story behind that is - I asked for a chook pen and my husband built a penthouse,” Ann explained (see a photo of the pen in the gallery above).
The much-loved mannequin was nabbed on the night of Friday November 17.
Some of the Facebook comments in response to the original story on the theft:
One evening three days prior to this Ann says three young girls pulled up at the front of her house.
“They got out of a small dark coloured car and walked down to where Miss Mani Quinn stood. Neighbours said they were taking photos of her.
“Lots of people take photos of her, but as she was stolen a couple of nights later- it leaves you wondering if they were involved. My husband was told by a local person that she was on the hit list for schoolies.”
If you have information about Miss Mani Quinn's whereabouts please contact Ann Edwards via Facebook or on 0408 623 970 or call the Kempsey Police Station on 6561 6199.
