The Rural Fire Service (RFS) has closed Point Plomer Road and Maria River Road at Big Hill until further notice as a result of the fire burning through swampland between Crescent Head and Port Macquarie.

Kempsey Shire Council has been requested to close the road by the RFS while crews work to control the bushfire currently burning in the Limeburners Creek National Park between Crescent Head and Port Macquarie.
Crews continue to work on the blaze and are conducting back burning operations to strengthen containment lines with the assistance of the Very Large Air Tanker.
Port Macquarie residents reported substantial levels of ash falling on properties with a significant amount of smoke affecting in the area.
