Martin, our Club Champion and lowest marker, of course, capped off a great year with a 1-over par 57 round that led to a 51 nett when handicaps were taken into account.
As expected, B-grader Gleeson could not match those figures, however this "older bloke" (so to speak) found something like his best-ever form for a fine round of 66.
His 8-under 48 nett secured the prized medal which was a deserved reward for virtually giving the Club Championship away earlier in the year when deciding to forego a play-off.
Both Graheme and Max were presented with their prized trophies by fellow veteran Neil Dodds, a director of the event-sponsoring Kempsey Heights Bowling Club.
Whilst Martin had two strokes to spare over Robert Johnston it was Gleeson by just the lone stroke over Michael Hinchcliffe.
A field of 38 contested the 14-hole stroke and in general scoring was well above average, with Hinchcliffe (49) leading the long list of 14 figuring in the day's ball competition.
Then followed Jack Tolman (50); Dick Smith (52); Johnston (53); Chris Hudson, Les Booth, Robert Crawford and Barry Brown (54); Robert Dykes, Wayne Hutley, John Terlich, Wayne Simmons, Greg Mayhew and Johnny King (55).
Putting prizes were won by Martin (19) and Tolman (22).
Nearest the pin at the third hole went to Geoff Warner (A) and Barry Pearson (B), with Mark Townsend (B) featuring at the eighth hole.
Chip-ins were performed by Martin and Jim Shaw (two each), Johnston and Doug Magennis.
In control of the day's affairs, our treasurer, Robert Johnston, offered thanks to the Kempsey Heights Bowling Club for their continued support. "Thank you Pappy for your involvement," he said.
Johnno also welcomed the three visitors from Wollongong, namely father and son Jack and Robert Crawford and Geoff Warner. Jack is remembered as a former local school teacher.
Pleasing to hear their praise of our course. "It's very interesting, not flat by any means like down home and your greens are a bit slow but true," said Warner in answer to the logical question.
Captain Robert (Dykes) gave notice of today's ordinary stableford and of the Annual General Meeting and Christmas Luncheon to be held next Tuesday.
A reminder fellows - as the treasurer did quirk a little softly last week - Club affiliations are now due.
Still a 9.30am tee-off today with back nine dominating and visitors are more than welcome to take part. A call to the Club on 65626291 is recommended.
