On a day out at Hat Head, 17 students teamed up with staff from Young Women Matter, the Red Cross, Pandanus People (Dune Care) and National Parks and Wildlife to participate in activities exploring the importance of physical, environmental and spiritual wellness.
Some of the activities included pillow case stencilling, painting inspirational quotes onto canvas and planting small plants. Girls participated in a mediation session led by Vicki Blowfield over looking the creek.
The 2018 Global Wellness Day (GWD) will be held in Australia on June 9 and encourages Australians to take steps towards living a healthier and better life. According to several studies, the most common health problem in the world is depression.
“It is wellness that is the cornerstone of quality of life. It determines how we ultimately look, feel, interact with others and thrive in life and work,” the GWD website states.
