The first Kempsey Macleay RSL Club and Macleay Argus’ Sportsperson of the Month award for 2018 has been given to Taylah Moffitt for her achievement at the Surf Life Saving Branch Championships at Bonnie Hills in January.

Taylah Moffitt represented Kempsey-Crescent Head Surf Life Saving Club and was the standout performer at the Championships.
The 11-year-old finished off the carnival as the Under 11s Female Branch Champion and won the further honour as the Overall Female Branch Champion.
It was the first time a representative of the Kempsey-Crescent Head Surf Life Saving Club has won the Overall Branch Champion award and her parents were very proud of Taylah’s achievement.
The young competitor faced participants from all Surf Life Saving clubs from as far north as Macksville and as far south as Bonny Hills.

Taylah advanced to the Branch Championships after she claimed a gold medal in all of the events she competed in at the Kempsey-Crescent Head Club Championships in December last year.
It was a vast improvement from Taylah in the space of a year.
Taylah was the age champion in the 2016-17 season for the Under 10 age group but she improved her performances in all events.
Taylah recently took her talents to the NSW Surf Life Saving Country Championships held at South West Rocks and reached the finals of a couple of events.
She plans on training harder and looks forward to competing on the big stage in the future.
With the Surf Life Saving season nearing its conclusion, Taylah’s attention is turning to netball and she is hoping to earn selection into the Macleay Valley Netball Association’s representative side for the Under 12 girls.
The Kempsey Macleay RSL presented Taylah with a trophy and a $100 gift voucher to spend at their restaurant.

A sportsperson of the year will be decided upon in January 2019 with an additional voucher of $500 for the restaurant awarded to the winner.
A panel of judges from the Macleay Argus will determine the monthly and yearly winners.
Nominations need to be submitted by the first day of the following month to be considered.
