Speaking to a NSW Lotteries official, the woman couldn’t contain her excitement and had gathered her family around the phone to hear the winning news.
“Woohoo! Say it again!” she laughed when her prize was confirmed.
“It’s just so hard to believe! I didn’t sleep much last night! I checked my ticket yesterday – I was so excited. We’ve been celebrating ever since! We’re so happy!”
The thrilled winner plans to use her windfall to pay off the mortgage and set her family up for the future.
“It will be great to be mortgage-free!” she said.
The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning 18-game QuickPick at West Kempsey Newsagency, 34 Elbow Street.
West Kempsey Newsagency owner Julie Sutton said the outlet was on a high from selling its first division one winning entry in 15 years.
“We’re very excited – though not as excited as my husband when he thought it was his ticket! I saw that we had sold a division one winning entry and I was jumping up and down and squealing, and my husband thought I’d put his ticket through!
“Actually my husband had a premonition a few weeks ago that we would have a big win and here it is! Now we’re hoping for a follow-up win! It’s great to see one of our customers win and we wish them all the very best with their prize.”
The six winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 3815 were 7, 27, 23, 2, 16 and 44, while the supplementary numbers were 25 and 28.
Across Australia, there were 14 division one winning entries – four from Victoria, three from South Australia, three from New South Wales, three from Western Australia, and one from Queensland. Each won $1.5 million.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 276 so far this financial year, including 90 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
There are more chances to win big this week. Tickets can be purchased at any NSW Lotteries outlet, online from thelott.com or via the Lott mobile app.
