At Kempsey Airport today at 6pm 21mm had been recorded since 9am with rain easing slightly in the preceding half an hour.
It appears to have been at its heaviest in the half an hour from 5pm to 5.30pm with 7.8mm falling in that time, taking the figure from 11.6mm to 19.4mm.
The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting another 15 to 20mm tomorrow with temperatures expected to range from 18 to 25 degrees.
Coastal passtimes will be out of the question as large and powerful surf conditions make rock fishing, swimming and surfing hazardous.
The forecast for Friday looks just as ominous with a 95 per cent chance of another wet one.
A further 10 to 15 mm are forecast and there is the possibility of a thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening.
Friday's temperature should range from 18 to 25 degrees.
The long-range outlook shows an 80 per cent chance of 3mm to 10mm on Saturday.
Rain should be clearing by this point.
With Macleay Valley Cricketers contesting finals at this time of the year, let’s certainly hope it does.
