The competition commenced with a timed practice for the 33 strong field on the Friday and Josh finished the day with the fastest time.
However, Josh had a massive setback during qualifying on the Saturday morning as the rear wheel hub on his kart failed and it forced him to be unable to record a time and he had to start the heats from the back of the grid.
Josh put the disappointment behind him and backed himself to have the pace to match it with the front runners.
Josh worked his way through the field and improved his standing in all of his heats to give him the best position possible for the final.
At the end of all of the heats Josh had raced tremendously well to improve his position and he was placed in 12th spot on the starting grid for the final.
The junior racer had a great start to the final and he quickly closed the gap on the front runners of the race.
Josh managed to weave his way into sixth position by the end of the race as the early setback proved too much of a burden to clinch a podium position.
It’s a very impressive result considering the setback he had at the start of qualifying.
Josh entered the competition with a goal of finishing in the top 10.
Josh is excited and looking forward to the next round of the National Sprint Kart Championship which will be held at Newcastle in May.
