Mrs Pavey said the funding will revitalise the foreshore helping to attract vital tourism dollars and create jobs.
“This exciting and much-needed funding will transform Stuarts Point for both locals and tourists,” Mrs Pavey said.
“Currently, recreational facilities and infrastructure in the foreshore area are out of date or in poor condition, and the area is under-utilised. This significant funding means we can continue to promote the area's beauty and make sure it continues to be known as a major regional tourism destination.”
Kempsey Shire Council mayor Liz Campbell said the need for upgrades was identified by the community and supported by council as a priority project in its 2018/19 Operating Plan.
“This much-needed funding will make the Stuarts Point foreshore even more appealing as one of the Macleay’s best holiday destinations which should give a real boost for local tourism and retail businesses,” Cr Campbell said.
“I’d like to thank the NSW Government, particularly our local member Melinda Pavey, for supporting Council to make this project a reality.”
