NSW Police have already begun Operation Merret, an unorthodox and proactive approach to road policing, aimed at educating and empowering the public to make the right decisions on our roads.
Extra traffic is expected in the Northern Region over the next few days as families return home from popular holiday destinations.
Inspector Matt French from Mid North Coast Police District said there will be an increased Police presence on our roads until the end of the school holidays and urged drivers to follow the road rules in order to return home safely.
“Think about the consequences of your actions every time you get behind the wheel. Most accidents occur because of bad decisions. It may be driving fatigued, speeding, not driving to the conditions, being distracted by your mobile phone or driving after using alcohol or drugs. One bad decision can devastate your life, the lives of your family or the lives of someone else’s family,” Mr French said.
