Firefighters from Kempsey Fire and Rescue were called at approximately 12.06am and arrived to find the Francis Smith Place property fully involved with fire.
The roof of the property had collapsed and the decision was made to fight the fire from the exterior.
“The firefighters did a great job in containing the blaze and preventing it from reaching the neighbouring properties,” Acting Station Commander Dallas Hegerty told the Argus.
The Kempsey Fire and Rescue had three firetrucks attend the scene and they fought the fire for approximately three hours.
The house was unoccupied.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and it has been handed over to the police for investigation.
