The largest gym franchise in Australia is urging people to sign up to their Tread Together 24-Hour Treadmill Challenge on May 25 and 26, kicking off from 3pm.
More than 250 Anytime Fitness clubs across Australia will be involved in the event, with the aim of raising $500,000 for SPA.
Members and the general public are asked to nominate themselves for a slot of 15-minutes or more on the treadmill, with the option to walk, run or even dance if they wish to.
Kempsey Anytime Fitness Club Manager Peter Ryrie is hoping for the support of the community.
“We would love to see the whole community get behind this important cause. Suicide takes eight lives every day in Australia and it’s something that has impacted many members of our community,” Peter said.
Anytime Fitness is partnering with Suicide Prevention Australia because we want to make a difference, and we know that others in the community do as well. The Tread Together 24-Hour Treadmill Challenge is a way for the community to come together and help make a positive impact for suicide prevention in a fun and supportive environment.”
By taking part, Anytime Fitness Kempsey hopes to raise at least $700 to contribute to the overall target. All funds raised in the lead up to and on the day of the Tread Together event will go towards Suicide Prevention Australia, to help reduce the number of lives lost to suicide each year.
Suicide is the leading cause of death for Australians aged between 18-44, with more Australians losing their lives to suicide each year than road accidents or skin cancer.
