The Cannonballs reached three figures for the first time as they handed the Thunder a 100-3 defeat at home on Saturday.
The one-sided contest saw the Cannonballs bounce back to form after losing their opening six games of the season.
The match started as a grind, with both teams muscling up in defence.
However, once Kempsey started to find the try line the floodgates quickly opened.
“Credit has to go to Wauchope, they’re a struggling side that turns up every week because they love their rugby and that’s good to see,” Cannonballs coach Carl Thurgood told the Argus.
“It was close for the first little but then it was one way traffic.”
The round seven fixture was the Cannons first game on home soil this season and Carl Thurgood is hopeful the side can maintain the momentum.
“Even though we were piling on the points, we still stuck to our structure and didn’t do anything silly,” Thurgood said.
“We kept to our game plan and played for the full 80-minutes, something we haven’t done this year.
“Hopefully it is a sign of things to come and we can keep playing at a high level against the better sides in the competition.”
Kini Dauvucu and Adrian Sabanda each recorded hat-tricks while Jarrod Barnett was a standout in the forward pack.
Young flyhalf Heath Lancaster made his presence felt in the side as the 17-year-old orchestrated the attack and crossed for his first senior try.
Lancaster won’t be available for selection this Saturday against the Vikings as he will be playing in a representative match.
Tyler Allen will be called back into the starting side as his replacement after making a successful return from injury off the bench against the Thunder.
Thurgood recognises facing the Vikings is a massive step up but is positive the Cannonballs can come away with the victory.
“We will take a lot out of the match against them earlier in the season, it was close and we can play a lot better than that,” Thurgood said.
“For us, they are the benchmark of the competition so it will be a big boost to beat them.”
