A NSW Far South Coast man accused of murdering his grandmother and critically wounding his grandfather and another man, has been refused bail in Batemans Bay Local Court.

Murray Deakin, 20, faces one count of murder and two counts of wounding or grievous bodily harm with intent to murder, after an incident in East Street, Bega on Friday, June 1.
Deakin appeared at a bail hearing on Sunday morning and his defence solicitor, Keely Boom, did not apply for bail. Bail was also formally refused.
The 20-year-old attended court in a hospital gown and had cuts and a bloodied forehead.
When Registrar Ingrid O’Neill asked the defence if a release application would be applied for, Deakin asked: “What is a release application?”
Deakin apologised for the interruption and later asked if his cousin would be available to defend him.
As proceedings were finalised, Deakin again apologised, saying: “I’m very sorry”.
He is expected to appear in Batemans Bay Local Court again via audio-visual link on Monday, June 4.
