The competition is conducted over several age divisions across both junior and senior grades, Moorehead represented the Women’s 27s.
Competing across four games against a formidable City side that were dominated by the State Cup champion South Sydney team, Moorehead’s Country team lost the first game 1-0, lost the second game 4-0, fought valiantly in the third game to earn a 3-3 draw before going down 4-0 in the final game.
At the end of the day the point score across all divisions was tied 7-7 and remained that way with the junior division postponed due to wet weather on Sunday.
The championships will be decided at a rescheduled date in September when the junior competition will be held.
While her team didn’t get the results they were hoping for Moorehead returned to Kempsey buoyed by her experiences.
“The standard of play was extremely high throughout the day and to be able to compete at that level is a huge confidence boost,” Moorehead said.
“The atmosphere of the day was great with all the different teams playing, I really enjoyed the experience”.
Moorehead will focus on finishing the season strongly with the Mustangs in League Tag before again representing Port Macquarie at Nationals in December.
