Over 200 birds were benched for judging by Neville Hayward from Grafton and Barry Powells from Coffs Harbour. Whilst most exhibitors were local members we had a large number of birds from Wollongong and Grafton breeders.
The results were:
Grand Champion Finch exhibited by Jake Watkins from Grafton.
Grand Champion Budgerigar exhibited by Barry McWhirter from Port Macquarie.
Grand Champion Canary exhibited by John Walker from Windang.
Grand Champion Parrot exhibited by Sharon Grady from Yarravel.
Grand Champion Lovebird exhibited by Ernie Elford from Kempsey.
It was a very enjoyable day and the Club is very appreciative of the wonderful support from local businesses.
Kempsey Macleay Bird Club is a non-profit organisation for people with an interest in birds. Our mission is to provide education on the enrichment and welfare of caged birds whilst showcasing the quality of our birds and the experience of local aviculturists.
The club meets at 10am on the third Sunday of each month at the Masonic Hall, 24 Tozer Street, West Kempsey. We try to have a guest speaker at each meeting.
We welcome children to join our club, as they're the future of aviculture. Our Club hosts an annual Bird Show and Sale which attracts lots of interest. The next bird sale will be held on Sunday, July 1.
