With around 40 students, Tallowood Steiner School embodies the best of a small, country school ethos, with healthy peer learning and relationship building assisted by our mixed age classes.
Tallowood has taken the Steiner foundation elements of artistic, active and dynamic learning within a rich and varied curriculum, and adapted these elements to suit our mixed- age classes.
Our integrated curriculum covers all KLA’s in a manner that is richly experiential and hands-on for our students.
Foundational Literacy and Numeracy, in our K-1 class, are brought to the children through story, painting, drawing, modelling and a sound phonics-based program.
Academic pressure is avoided through our inherently artistic and dynamic active learning approach.
Creative play is foundational across all year levels. The school offers a dynamic PDHPE program in the middle/ upper primary class, which includes surfing and equestrian events. A manual arts program continues to flourish in these grades.
Educational programs across all grades are highly integrated through artistic experience and active learning.
Many students who do not thrive in larger schools will do so at Tallowood.
Enthusiasm for the teaching and learning process, across a broad spectrum of developmental areas, is at the heart of our approach.
Children’s social and emotional development is seen to be as important as their academic and cognitive development.
Our school Virtues Program fosters an ethos where the development of a culture of character, across the whole school, supports our Zero-Tolerance of Bullying Policy and Practices.
