"Simply the best, better than all the rest" is the best superlative one could dream up to describe the outstanding performance by Graham Schasser to take out last week's Kempsey Veterans Golf Club stableford competition.

Those few words of that great song sung by Tina Turner says it all, as this pocket-dynamo from the seaside village of Hat Head was best of grade and better than any one of his 35 rivals.
Graham must have thought he was playing on his home course, Sandy Flat, one designed especially for left-handers, as the little-leftie himself signed off his card for 35 points.
It was of some concern that his usual "coach" Johnny King was missing in action for the 14-hole event.
"Where's Johnny," was a natural query by many a mate; "Johnny's OK, he had to take his wife to the doctor and he's keenj to be here next week," he replied.
Of course he will be here, after all it is Manly Day and JK is a strong fan and one of the six sponsoring supporters!
Anyway, Graham was three points clear of his closest challenger, which happened to be our chief chef and 2016-17 Club Champion, Graheme Martin, who was being hailed as a winner until late in proceedings.
Mark Townsend shrugged off a long run of outs - except for that extended 18-hole event a few weeks prior - to win B-grade with a 31-point round.
And Mark's good mate and caravanning compeer, Doug Magennis, racked up 28 points to be best of the 7-strong C-grade field. There were 19 in B-grade.
But for the record there was a lone A-grader making it on and considering his ball too far from the pin to mark. Won't divulge his name but you can bet he will be hopping mad when he comes back from a holiday, eh!
It was Martin (A) and Inder (B) winners at the 11th hole.
Returning from an extended holiday with time spent in the eastern countryside of France, our President Alan (Macdonald) was as quirky as ever in his wrap-up. The boss was somewhat amazed with the third hole surprise.
He did describe it in his very own way of words, his string ending with remarkable!
Today's Manly Day event is a 14-hole single stableford with the overall winner taking the thick edge of the total purse and the three grade winners sharing an even share, too.
Due to the cold mornings, Kempsey Social Club players will tee off at 9.30am.
