There are practical ways we can help keep our community safe. One way we can assist the police to protect residents is by helping them gather information by reporting incidents when they occur.

If we see something or know of something that’s not right, please report it to the police so they are well-armed to combat crimes before and as they occur.
It’s worthwhile taking steps to protect our homes and businesses to deter intruders and look out for each other by helping to protect our friends’ and neighbours’ properties. If you know your neighbours are away, keep an eye on their place and report anything suspicious.
This way the police are not working in isolation but are working in partnership with the community. This sends a clear message that crime and anti-social behaviour has no place in the Macleay Valley.
Police Assistance Line - 131 444 - When reporting crimes that are not in progress or have no known offender (eg. malicious damage, break and enter or stealing).
Emergency Services - 000 - When needing assistance from the police, ambulance or fire brigade in an emergency situation.
Crime Stoppers - 1800 333 000 - A community-based policing service that gathers details of criminal activity volunteered by members of the public.
Another helpful way is to support Council’s Graffiti Blasters which strive to promote civic pride with volunteers in a specially-equipped vehicle removing graffiti from our community.
You can support this great initiative by reporting graffiti with a phone call to council’s customer services on 6566 3200 or by using the Snap Send Solve phone app.
The best way to stamp out anti-social behaviour is to lead by example in treating others the way we would like to be treated. People have a right to feel safe in their homes and going about their business in public places. We need to support each other to feel safe and a valued member of our community.
We need to demonstrate respect for others when out and about and across social media communications, and all play a part in developing the reputation of the Macleay as a safe community.
