The member for Oxley Melinda Pavey was delighted to announce $1.5 million has been set aside for a new police station at South West Rocks.
“We will be delivering better premises for South West Rocks police,” Mrs Pavey said.
Planning of a new bridge will also be at the forefront with the state budget allocating $1m to help Kempsey Shire Council commence design work.
“We need a second crossing at Kempsey in the future and this is the start of that journey of exploration of how we do that bridge,” Mrs Pavey said.
The budget also includes $7.5m for better walking tracks, that will serve locals and tourists, to explore the beautiful Macleay Valley.
There is also $500,000 that has been provided to the Kempsey PCYC.
“(The Kempsey PCYC) is a great program and great initiative which helps our kids have a better life and a better future,” Mrs Pavey said.
Mrs Pavey claims the budget has delivered more than it has in the past to the Oxley region.
“Never before has our community received this support and this investment from nationals in government,” she said.
“There’s something for everybody, there’s something for families, something for our aged community but most importantly there’s infrastructure spending like we’ve never seen so we can have a future that we deserve.”
