South West Rocks Country Club CEO David Cunningham said it was the club’s goal to eliminate all plastic straws and plastic bags by July 1, 2018 and all plastic bottles by August 1, 2018.
“We anticipate that other plastic items, such as disposable plastic cups, coffee cup lids, takeaway containers and the like, will take a little longer while we investigate environmentally-friendly options, but we are committed to make it happen as quickly as we can,” Mr Cunningham said.
“The South West Rocks Country Club is proud to be the first large hospitality venue in South West Rocks, and possibly the Macleay Valley to make this commitment.”
The club will be promoting the 'plastic free' message through social media and amongst members and guests.
“We look forward to leading the way, in making our town plastic free,” Mr Cunningham said.
