The Cannonballs sit in sixth position on the ladder with one win to their names but have six bonus points which has kept them in contention for a finals spot.
However, the side will need to win their remaining five games to lift themselves into the top four.
The Cannons and Redmen played out a tight battle in their first encounter this season but the former will have the benefit of playing on home soil this Saturday.
The Cannonballs benefit from playing four of their final five games at home, with their one road game against the bottom-placed Wauchope Thunder.
The task is made harder for Kempsey as they will be without prop Tasi Afoa and centres Corey Gale and Nathan Stuart.
The Cannonballs will be up for the challenge.
