The side’s premiership hopes remain alive as they weren’t playing in an elimination final.
However, there season will be alive when they face off with the Forster-Tuncurry Hawks in Wingham this weekend.
It wasn’t the Mustangs’ day as they fell behind on the scoreboard early and weren’t able to fight their way back into the contest.
The Pirates crossed for three quick tries before the Mustangs put themselves on the board to trail 18-6.
However, it was as close as the Mustangs got as the Pirates were able to maintain their dominance for the majority of the contest.
“We didn’t have much luck early on as a few decisions went against us and they could have gone either way,” Mustangs Under-18.5s coach Beau Russell-Docherty said.
“Most of our side has played a lot of footy lately with school competitions and games on the weekend and they just looked tired out there.”
Russell-Docherty isn’t too concerned about the loss and expects his side to turn things around for this weekend.
“We won’t be changing too much, we just need to prepare well and be ready to go against the Hawks,” he said.
