The regular morning session this month, on Tuesday August 14, is off to attend to the northern section of trail around Big Hill.
A reconnaissance in July revealed there was great ‘bang for buck’ in attacking weedy seedlings along and either side of the trail that have reappeared since previous work.
This follow up is standard stuff in regenerating an area and each time another sweep is done through a patch the more the native vegetation dominates and reduces the available habitat and seed ‘bank’ for weeds.
Any extra help is much appreciated so volunteers are most welcome and no experience is necessary. Please kit yourself out in a long sleeved shirt, long pants, enclosed shoes, a sunhat, gardening gloves, if you have them, and bring some water. Other equipment is supplied.
Please note carefully, the change in work location will mean a change in meeting point. The Big Hill beach car park is the place to be at 8:30am. Turn left immediately after the bridge just past the property “The Banksias”.
After a couple of hours of ‘gardening’ the always delicious morning tea and friendly banter will make everything seem even better than the feeling you get from contributing to the landscape. Come and meet some other people that value the lovely coastal strip we are privileged to enjoy.
