All Commonwealth Banks across the Mid North Coast joined in the fundraiser.
The bank has been fundraising for the last few months, with the Kempsey branch raising over $5000 in donations.
Customer Service Specialist at the Kempsey branch Katrina Donnelly said the response from the community in regards to donations has been amazing.
“It’s fantastic. We’re amazed at how many people have donated and how much, everyone is giving whatever they can,” she said.
Tumblegum Bakehouse donated cupcakes for the day, which were sold for $2 with all of the proceeds going to the farmers. Trevor Riley ‘The Hay Run Busker’ was also at the bank today, donating all of his busking proceeds to the fundraiser.
The money raised from today will be donated to Burrumbuttock Hay Runners, the fundraising group the Commonwealth Bank is supporting Australia-wide.
Locals can also buy a bale from the Kempsey branch for $20 that will be donated as well.
“The generosity is amazing and very much appreciated,” Ms Donnelly said.
The Commonwealth Bank has donated $2 million to farmers out west, as well as Commonwealth Bank customers raising $1 million to also be donated.
“We will be continuing to take donations, but today was about getting more people involved and raising awareness,” Ms Donnelly said.
Overall, today the Commonwealth Bank in Kempsey raised over $1500 for the farmers out west.
