Maddison defended the goal mouth for the second half of the decider and helped her side claim the 1-0 victory over Merewether United FC.
The goalkeeper was instrumental in helping the side maintain an impressive defensive record thoughout the season as the side conceded only 12 goals in their 21 regular season games.
The side ran away in the minor premiership race as they claimed the title with four rounds remaining as they won 20 of their matches and scored an impressive 115 goals.
The Under-14s coach Brenton Doyle had high praise for his team and was proud they earned the grand final victory.
“These girls have excited us and enthralled us all season. At times nerves got the better of them (in the grand final match) but they just didn’t say no. At the end they just kept going like they have all year,” Doyle said.
Maddison and her teammates are now preparing for the Northern New South Wales State Championships for girls, which is held in Coffs Harbour from October 3 to 5.
FMNC is the only non-Newcastle based team in the Herald Women’s Premier League Competition.
The teams consist of representative players from across the Mid North Coast, from Forster-Tuncurry to Kempsey. Players and families travel to Newcastle on alternate weeks for away games.
