I had the pleasure of presenting certificates to the first round of NVC Group trainees who graduated in their Certificate III in Individual Support at Cedar Place.
As I watched their faces beam with pride, it confirmed how important it is to have educational opportunities in the Macleay, and I look forward to seeing the next round of graduating trainees.
Schools from around the Macleay joined a public speaking competition held at Kempsey West Public School. As one of three judges on the panel, I was impressed by the talent on display with the quality presentations by the students.
It was wonderful to meet visitors from Mandastana SMA in Kalimantan, Indonesia last Thursday at St Paul’s College as part of a program to connect school communities from Australia with a sister school in Southeast Asia to further language studies and work on shared projects.
Our community thanks our dedicated teachers for all that you do in working with parents to provide our young people with the best chance for a rewarding future.
Boost your town
I would encourage anyone interested in boosting the economic health and wealth of the Macleay to put your name forward to be part of our newly formed Economic Development and Tourism Committee.
Council is seeking to appoint six external members to form the committee via an expression of interest process.
This committee will meet four times a year in Kempsey, and act as a link between Council and key industry sectors.
To boost opportunities for jobs growth and to strengthen the economic future of our valley, we need to create partnerships to drive economic development and tourism.
