The side trailed 2-0 but scored a late goal to set up a grand stand finish.
It wasn’t to be for the Rangers as the late goal proved to be only a consolation.
The Rangers had advanced to the preliminary final after finishing the regular season in third position on the table.
They then suffered a 3-2 defeat in the opening week of the finals against Wallis Lake.
Fortunately, they had a second chance and defeated Kempsey Saints 2-0 in the qualifying final.
However, the loss against Wallis Lake saw them fall short of a grand final appearance in the reserve grade competition.
Rangers’ first grade defeated Port United 5-4 in a penalty shootout to advance through to the Football Mid North Coast grand final.
Macleay Valley’s first grade side will face Wallis Lake in the grand final at Harry Elliot Oval on Saturday.
