The TimeSlips Creative storytelling session uses storytelling as a pathway to communication and social interaction for people with dementia.
In groups, or one-on-one, TimeSlips facilitators invite imagination-based responses to a prompt, such as an image. Facilitators gently guide the participants by asking them a series of open-ended questions, and then accept whatever answers are given.
The responses are recorded and read back to the participants, forming a story. This creative interaction allows people with memory loss to communicate in innovative ways.
TimeSlips began in 1998 and has reached 15 countries all over the world.
The workshop will be run by certified Timeslips facilitator Lisa Hort at Kempsey Shire Library on Wednesday September 19 from 10:30am to 11:30am.
Bookings for this session are essential. Phone Kempsey Library on 6566 3210 or send an email to kempsey.library@kempsey.nsw.gov.au
