Patrick was presented with the prestigious award earlier this month.
Patrick was over the moon after receiving the award and the smile couldn’t be wiped off his face.
James Benson was there to present the shield to Patrick and he was honoured that the shield for the juniors was named after him as James has been playing golf at Frederickton since the age of 12 and he is now one of the club’s A grade players.
Patrick, who is 10, has enjoyed playing golf at the club for the past three years.
Patrick hits the course alongside his sister and other junior golfers who take part in the Frederickton Junior Golf Program on a Saturday afternoon.
James Benson was honoured to have the junior shield named after him.
"I have been playing at the Frederickton Golf Club since I was 12 and it’s an amazing feeling to have a shield named in my honour,” James said.
“I love nothing more than seeing the juniors out on the course on a Saturday afternoon.
“I wish Patrick all the best and hope he continues playing golf and succeeding the way he has this past year.”
The Frederickton Golf Club’s juniors program wouldn’t be a success without the encouragement and support from all of the club’s golf members who enjoy seeing the juniors on the course of a Saturday.
The club would also like to give a big thank you to all of its sponsors who help keep the juniors on the course.
Hot and Tasty, Oxley Insurance, Akubra, Carpet Court, Sheriden Legal, Jubilee Trophy, Benson Glass and Hardware, Coastline Credit Union and Macleay River Haulage.
The Frederickton juniors take to the course on a weekly basis on Saturday’s at 2.30pm.
To sign up to the club for a year as a junior is only $25 and then the juniors get to take to the course on a Saturday for only $4.
The juniors also receive light and healthy snacks at the conclusion of play and clubs can be supplied if needed.
The junior competition is open to players of all talent levels and if you’re interested in having one of your children try the sport, then take them to the golf club on a Saturday afternoon at 2pm and one of the coaches will be more than happy to help out.
The Frederickton Golf Club is a great place to start your golf career.
