Owner of West Kempsey Hotel, Tim Smith, first gauged interest in the idea to raise funds back in July and following the snowball effect of the Macleay banding together to help Aussie farmers, it was decided to push the date of the trivia night to September.
“Because of the interest by the community to help out, we pushed it back to give people a bit of a break from fundraising,” Mr Smith said.
“We still all of the tickets within the first week though, the support from the community is just unreal.”
The $25 tickets for the night include one complimentary drink, finger food and a $15 donation towards The Macleay Hay Run.

“We’ve already raised around $2500 just through the tickets, and we’ll also be having raffles throughout the night to raise more,” Mr Smith said.
Businesses from the Macleay have donated the items that will be auctioned off on Saturday night.
“Everyone has really wanted to help with the fundraising in anyway they can.”
“This isn’t about us, the community has really banded together over this and helped out, I’m glad we’re able to do our part.”
The Trivia Night will kick off at 6.30pm on Saturday.
