But she had to be on guard in the run as Karlu Dreaming wanted to “take off” early, then “wanted to half fall asleep”, before she applied her vigour in the run home.
Hilary is looking forward to the Kempsey Cup.
In other racing news, Port Macquarie trainer Tas Morton is treating $40,000 Scone maiden winner Acoustix as something “out off the box”.
It fetched $370,000 in bids at the Magic Millions until failing a vet test, it is by boom sire Snitzel, is being aimed at next year’s rich Country Championships and is being regarded as a potential sire.
The three-year-old colt ($4) scored a length win under top Port jockey Ben Looker over 1100m at only its second start, after a second in unsuitable ground at Tuncurry, and has been sent for a spell with the richer races in target.
“I think he is a very handy horse capable of winning in town on a Saturday, he is bred in the purple by Snitzel and could make a worthwhile stallion,” Morton said.
Acoustix was sent back to breeder Andrew Badcock after failing the vet test and the colt was operated on for a wind problem.
