Builders will be onsite to start preliminary works for the construction of the four cinema complex above the area of the centre which was previously occupied by Target Country.
At this stage the works will consist of reinforcing the footings and will require the closure of approximately 50 car spaces in the basement car park. These works are anticipated to take between four to six weeks.
Staff who work at Kempsey Central are urged to park in the area adjacent to the shopping centre and avoid using the basement car park.
The Belgrave Street entry will also be closed from next Tuesday and pedestrians will have access to the centre through the car park entry and the pedestrian ramp.
The section of Belgrave Street in front of the shopping centre will also be closed for the duration of the construction period.
The duration of construction of the complex is estimated to be 10 months.
